Financial Leadership Training

I offer nonprofit financial leadership training in partnership with a trusted colleague through the Nonprofit Financial Leadership Academy. In this 7-week course you will learn both the basic principles and practices of nonprofit finance and the elements of effective financial leadership. In shifting the focus from financial management to financial leadership, you will learn to have engaging and strategic conversations with your board and staff teams that lead to better budgeting practices and revenue strategies. The course is designed for emerging nonprofit leaders, experienced leaders needing a refresh, and development and program directors and managers who want to learn more about the finance function of their organization.


Grant Strategy

I see grant stewardship as an important strategy and can help position your organization for grant success, whether it’s maintaining or growing current grant partnerships or securing new ones. I can help with public and private funding opportunities.

Services can include:

  1. Review of your organization’s grant history, with recommendations for revising grant strategy.

  2. Determination of which programs and strategic initiatives are grant fundable.

  3. Prospect research to identify grant funders that are aligned with your priorities, with prospect rankings to help you determine where to wisely invest agency resources for grants development.

  5. Coaching on meeting specific requirements of the funder and preparation of LOIs and proposals tailored to meet each funder’s requirements.

Fund Development Audit

Different revenue strategies make sense for different organizations, depending upon your mission focus, your strategic priorities, and your history with community engagement. I can help you determine which revenue strategies can be improved and identify new ones that align with your priorities and capacity. I can also help you determine the right staffing plan to execute your fund development plan.

I offer interim staffing for small and medium size nonprofits experiencing a leadership transition in your executive director, deputy director, or development director roles. As interim director level staff I can ensure continuity of programs and operations, and maintain funding streams to support the work. In all interim placements I work to create a pathway for success for permanent hires.


Board Development

I provide board training on the role of governance in the nonprofit model and best practices for effective board leadership.
